About Sofia

Sofia Mashchenko (she/her) is 20 years old and is currently entering her third year of university in Spain; she is studying politics/international relations with political marketing and communication.

Having been chosen as Head Girl at an International School, Sofia has developed a strong sense of community and understood the challenging aspect of how to combine leadership and teamwork. She was very lucky to receive mentoring from Margaret Hales, the President of the European Union of Women, as well as participate in various MUN conferences.

Currently, Sofia enjoys taking part in the debate club at the university level and has had the opportunity to volunteer at the United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights.

Who do you look up to and why?

What do you want to do career-wise in the future?

What's one fun fact about yourself?

I definitely look up to Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern, her handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and the groundbreaking policy changes that she has supervised is very inspirational for many young leaders. Moreover, I strongly admire Vee Kativhu, a UK based activist who advocated for girls´ education all over the world.

Right now, I am really interested in diplomacy work as well as human rights, two aspects that involve a lot of traveling. My main focus is to make an impact in our society that will improve the lives of generations to come and I intend to make that happen one way or another!

I actually speak 4 languages: Russian, French, Spanish and English. I am extremely lucky to have had a very international upbringing!
